Radhika

Radhika is a student of Class III in a govt. school. Since last year, she started coming to our NGO school regularly with her sister and brothers. Initially, she was a slow learner and a back bencher. Over time, we have seen her transform into a participative and an active child. She learns fast and participates in various activities. Her handwriting has improved and has started to paint as well. Her favorite subject is English. Using the sound technique, she reads small English sentences and has learnt a lot of English rhymes.

Amar

Amar was another example of a reserve, hesitant and a nervous child. He would rarely talk to other student in the class. With NGO’s help and teacher’s hard work, Amar now stands on the stage and gives speeches. During our republic day, he gave a speech in English which bought tears into our eyes.

Ali

Ali is a 13 years old student of Class 5. His mother is the only earning member of the family .Initially, he was a shy child and would hesitate to talk to people. The teachers have worked along with him and have helped him overcome his shyness. His communications skills have improved and he works hard to learn English. He also works part-time in a shop now. He gave a speech on the republic day. It is been a great experience to see Ali evolve.

These are just very few of the many examples where the children have done us proud. These kids are the reason for us to be in this field. All we have tried to do is to work on these children and make them realize their potential. We cannot teach everything to them here but if we are able to put them on the right path with the right tools, we have achieved what we had set out for.

Shamma Parveen

Shamma Praveen is a student of Class 4. She has a large family where her father, a hawker, is the only earning member. When she joined our school, she had problems facing people and was a very nervous child. She now has confidence and her speaking, reading and writing skills have improved. It was here that she was given exposure to computers and now she feels very confident working on the computer. She feels proud that she knows a lot of English words and that she can understand some bits of English. She has come a long way from being a girl who had no confidence to someone who looks into your eyes and talks to you.
